Flying to South Korea & Hong Kong (1 Viewer)

I am going to South Korea!!! & Hong Kong (less enthusiasm...)

I will miss some of the first HSC tasks but that's ok. I haven't been there in the last 4 years and my Korean is getting rusty. My grandparents were commenting on my accent and everything...

And they will be surprised to see changed Namu.

Ok, back on the reason for thread-starting:

What are the good things to do in South Korea? (or in Hong Kong?)

I havent been to South Korea, but I have been to to hong kong.

Stuff to do
- go see the giant buddah on lantau island
- go to victoria peak (best at night) - also if you are a forest gump fan go to the restaurant bubba gump at victoria peak
- watch the symphony of lights at tsim tsa shui (sp?) - its on at 8pm every night
- catch a ferry to macau, have a look at some casinos or something
- go shopping in mong kok (best shopping ever)
- catch a cruise or ferry across the harbour. You dont really have to worry about a cruise, a ferry ride costs you like 30c, and you pretty much get the same view
- if you havent been to any other disneylands, go to HK disneyland. Its probably the smallest and shittest in the world, but if you havent been to any others you will still enjoy it
- If youve got time go into China (Shenzhen) for a day. I didnt get to do that when I was there, but I really wanted to.

I guess my time in Korea will be full of visits to my relatives and friends (if I can find ones, lol) and family.

In HK:

Buy a baby turtle from the 'Pets Avenue' near Loi Yan Gai (Ladies' Market; gender reference is completely misleading) in Mong Kok, Kowloon. Go crazy shopping for cheapy clothing, toys, etc. If you're willing to spend a few extra dollars, boutique stores nearby also sell more higher-ended items that may strike your interest.

Also try the Dai-Pai-Dong HK-style Milk Tea (ice-cold) from Lan Fong Yuen (in Zhong Wan - Central), and the fried instant noodles. Pearl milk tea in general is also really yummy if you know where to buy it. Hong Kong is the junk-food hub of the world, so enjoy your time. (as much as Thailand is the prostitute hub of the world)

Having a schedule will ruin your time, just go crazy and immerse yourself in the city culture.

I wish...I have 2 day to spend on Hong Kong because my mum doesn't want me to stay there for too long to miss my tasks...

Subway trains come every two minutes in Hong Kong, and are quite efficient and cheap (about $3 - $6HK for a ride; 30 seconds to each stop). If you had the energy, you could go to many of the cities on the Island of Kowloon in a day.

Disney Land = GO VERY EARLY. You want the best value for money, and a ticket in is quite expensive.

Where in HK r u staying? I liked Kowloon...best shopping night ever. I wouldnt recommend going to their Disneyland but go if you havent been.

Annyonghaseyo - the only phrase that I learnt during my trip to South Korea a few years ago.

Umm if your parents are believers of Ginseng, I've heard that Korea is known for its Ginseng. There's also Everland, which you may or may not know is similar to... a larger Wonderland, but doesn't quite meet up to Disneyland.

When you're in HKG, visit the new Disneyland, despite frequent comments about its minute size, relative to the other Disneylands - Splash Mountain is a must - enjoyed it very much whilst I was at Disneyland in the US.

WHo are you flying with? (Airline) Korean Air (KE) have recently introduced VOD.

Are you sure? WHen I went there, KRW850 = AUD1

I would recommend getting your money exchanged at the Walker Hill casino - very low commission and involves a free round at the tables - not that I'm supposed to know, my parents passed the information to me. Obviously, you'd get... a family relative to carry out the exchange.

There's a good place for electronics, I think it's called Planet Doota - the top floor, that is.

Oh and if you don't mind being in the nude around other men, travel to Asan to experience the traditional hot springs/bath - I didn't try it out in Korea, but did so in Japan. lol it's a but strange at first... but with the steam that's present, it's sufficient enough to camouflage yourself.

Thought about visiting the DMZ (Demiliterised Zone)? It's regarded as one of the most hostile areas of the world. Even when you're around Itaewon, there are dozens of army personnel - both Korean and American.

ICN is a nice airport.

Lotteworld? I have been there 10000+ times because when I lived there my residence was close to that place so I went to that place with my mates regularly.

But I might consider that.
