scamming free train rides is pretty pathetic imo but I can see why people do it, if the opportunity is there then why not?

The only way I can see for you to totally get away without a ticket is to travel between stations without those barrier things. Because those stations don't usually have a hoard of transit officers around on account of being small and unimportant.

That said, I have walked straight through the wide gates at redfern/central numerous times without being asked for a ticket, so I guess it's a matter of luck. I would never not buy one, though. You never know.

i may take this opportunity to bitch about the cityrail securities. i honestly doubt they have done anything effective ever since they have been introduced to check tickets and walk around looking as if they are the cops. if there is any evidence of effectiveness, surely the iemma govt would have already released it to the press so they can brag about it. the point is, they do nothing. these guys show realy get a real job, join the police force or something.

Last year, I remembered someone actually saying that to those transit officers to "get a real job and stop trying to rip people off" They didn't look happy when the dude said that, lol.

The reason why most of them are cunts is that they have a quota each week or so, so I guess they exploit that to get money. Pretty selfish in my opinion.

The thing that shits me the most is that they still fine SCHOOL-KIDS OBVIOUSLY going to school but they've lsot their train pass and are still awaiting a replacement.

Listening to the real deadbeat bogans trying to talk their way out of fines is a pretty hilarious spectacle, though.

Oh I should tell you guys about this one.

Back in early 2005 - you know how those train passes doesn't expire until March 31? Okay...well, we got the new ones early. Brown ones that year.

I'd been collecting through my 6 years of school.

...but I thought of just finish the old green one first.

Man oh man. Then one day, 9 days before the old ones were going to expire, 2 transit officers came on and took my pass, saying that once you get the new one, the old one stops working. Hell, they don't, the pass still let me through! The old guy said he let me off easy.

I just think they're racist.

So yeah, my collection's ruined.

lol i remember on the train these 2 guys didnt have a ticket total strangers, one guy just didnt have a ticket said it was his first time on train this other guy said he got out of jail and didnt have his card for concession.

First guy got a warning and second dude got a fine after wards he was just going off saying bunch of dogs etc calling them nerds how they probably studied really hard in school. Im just sitting there thinking WTF does it really take a nerd to become a inspection officer and if he wasn't such a failure in school he most likely wouldn't be in jail.

hahahaha that reminds me, a while ago it was just me, this other guy and his friend in the carriage... The two dudes were talking in eloquent bogan-speak about all the times they'd been fined for not having tickets, while I pretended not to listen and tried not to laugh, and then one of them starts re-enacting the time he got arrested by a transit officer, and he's rolling around on the floor and yelling and swearing "FUCK GET YOUR FUCKIN HANDS OFF ME FAAAAAARK" and miming being dragged off (he was a fully grown man by the way). I didn't know where to look :/ plus I was so close to bursting out laughing at him but he kind of looked like he might pick a fight and stab me or something so I kept my mouth shut...and then 2 stops later transit officers get on and he gets fined. Oh that was an entertaining train trip :D

I don't understand it all, really. There's no reason why we can't keep them. You can collect anything you want to collect, so long as they aren't dead bugs or anything sick.

(Where's this basic right, before we even move onto human rights?!)

What a bunch of weirdos. Just because they don't want to have any memories of high school, doesn't mean that we can't. Besides, I mean, I could've lied and said that we hadn't received the new one yet.

A year later, I told the same story to another grey guard at Redfern before I went to uni. He apologized to me and said that it was completely stupid and unjustified, like trying to find a bone in an egg.

LOL! I was in Cabra the other day for the first time in my life and those spitting old men are HILARIOUS! I piss myself laughing! They just snort really loudly and spit a mixture of flem and boogers on the ground. Absolutely hilarious. In a time period of about an hour, I saw about 3 spitting old men. I've gotta go to Cabra more often!

i read an article a week back that made all this debate redundant, if this is true its unbeleivable why its not more widely known:

"FINES issued by railway transit officers could be invalid because the officers do not have the power to demand an offender's date of birth.

They also lack the power to demand to see identification, meaning anyone pinched for fare evasion or smoking on a platform could give Mickey Mouse as their name and Disneyland as their address."

http://www.smh.com.au/news/national...nding-out-fines/2008/05/03/1209235226975.html

i'm never telling them my name now, and i'll only buy a ticket if its convenient.

I mean who really gives a shit about $1.70 its just the hassle of buying it that annoys me cos the ticket things are always fucked/long lines.
