It helps not to look like a complete idiot when you are trying to make a point (ie, spell correctly, dont go on rants about the government coming to steal your computer, leave your xenophobia out etc).

Anyway, to the topic - The victim is now no longer an accuser because it has been deemed in criminal trial beyond reasonable doubt that those guys gang raped her. I dont think she should have to relive the horror of that night. Im sure they pretty comprehensively covered it in the initial trial so transcripts of that should be enough.

ok. ur entiltled to that. but im entitled to my opinion as well. im not saying he dosent deserve 55years. im just saying that at times and in some situations sentences are given out that are much too long. i mean they may as well just kill him. ill bet wasted emotions would get pretty psyced abt that.

And yes, this is my opinion, but my opinion, unlike yours, is backed up with facts. You say I have no idea what happened, which is true, however, you do not either. So, until you know all the facts of this case, you are in no position to be saying they did not deserve their sentence. Until you meet the victims of this crime and see how it effects their lives, what position are you in to say they shouldn't get the full force of the law? I'll admit the only reason they got such a long sentence is because of the media, but thats not to say they did not deserve it. But, they will have done to them what the did to those girls - the general prison population does not take too kindly to rapists, especially following the sensationalised stories produced by the media.

Yes, some are too long - but our justice system is not perfect. I doubt you'd find a Justice system in the world that is perfect.

As i said before alot of rape victims are sluts........... they dont deserve to be raped.......but they often contribute to it happening. And a lot of them probably lie as welll...since they are women and manipulative

Not bad at all? Are you kidding? Considering you are a male, that probably why you can make such a fuck up statement. This is one of the worst thing that can happen to a female. Their lives is traumarised and the psycholoical damage is permanet. Some of the victims, especially the younger one aren't even able to have a normal social life, they aren't able to get a boyfriend or even married because of the damage of the rape. Their lives are greatly distrubed and yet it is entirely not their fault, they didn't want it to happen, now because some selfish pricks can't get a partner and built their wish on the expanse of other people lives.

I agree rape is as bad as murder, if not worse. At least when someone got killed, they don't have to face the problems afterwards. But for rape victims, their problems don't go away, it stays forever and ever after the day they pass away. I hope those rapist, especially gang rapist will serve a long long time in prison, and hopefully their fellow inmates will teach them how to respect a woman.

I do believe there are some terrible rapes, however I know first hand from a family member, at a young age, on a continual basis.. that rape isn't always the worst crime...
Murder is much worse than rape, at least in most circumstances imo.

I would tend to agree with NTB, that in some cases rape is not as bad as people make it out to be, for example the law defines rapes so far as I know as the unconsensual penetration of any orifice with an object. If I stick a pencil up your nose, I'm sure you'll get over it

EDIT: And rape victims have the option to die or continue and try to work through problems, murder victims don't.
