Went over the test with my teacher and its looking like a raw 65. How are people angry with like 90 raw marks ffs? Silly mistakes will be the death of me

So what about using the velocity counterpart differentiation?
Btw I didnt use the method using sin and cos in the test cos I though it was shifty. Damn wrong decision.
i don't see why that seems shifty :S it said prove it's increasing for (/) between -pi/2 and pi/2
so differentiate and show > 0 for the given domain. pretty straight forward?

If you look at Terry Lee's solutions to the 2010 paper Q8 he uses the terminology that the value is "sandwiched" in between two things that are approaching to the same value.

So i used the word sandwiched lel

How did people do today? I didn't find many of the questions particularly interesting, but I think I did well.

Any questions anyone wants to discuss/compare answers for?

most of us are just waiting for Carret's solutions.

maybe, want to cross-check with me?

okay here are some of my answers. one disclaimer - I did not get time to check answers.

q11 a) I) root 2 cis ( - pi /4) ii) -4 / 5 - 2/5 i

b) pi - 6 all over 2 (pi)^2

e) 216 pi units cubed

Q12. b) ii) pi / 18 , 11pi / 18, 13 pi /18
d) iii) 3 pi - 8 all over 12

Q13 a) 2 (root 3) - 3 all over 6
b) 24 root 3 all over 5

Q14. ii) -3/ 2 plus minus (root 15)/2 i

b) ii) pi /4

c ii) 150 M ln (5) all over F hours

Q16 c) x all over (1 + ln x) + C

again, reiterating these are merely my answers :) and I didn't have time to check at all

I thought it was a little easier, but that's probably because I'm looking at it from a year on and I took 2013 under HSC conditions.
I would say equal difficulty, but that is just me. Besides, I did 2013 past paper as simple worksheet practice - didn't practice 2013 (or any other past paper) in exam conditions

one for getting the height and other dimensions
one for getting correct area/volume expression
one for getting the correct integral with correct limits
one for evaluating the integral correctly i.e. correct answer

i think the start was harder but end was easier. i feel like the e4 might be a little lower, but the top end will be "sandwiched" together because last q was fairly simple

I got to agree with that.

Except I think the E4 cut-off won't change.

"without using calculus, sketch the graph y = x^2 - 1/x^2"

*uses calculus in pencil to check intercepts, asymptotes and trends*
