Hello all!
I heard that this year they're are going to have generalised HSC questions for Personality Studies....what the hell? How are they gonna do that?? I think to find one question that applies to all the possible personalities is....demented.
Any idea what they could ask??????
Thanks!

I got a copy of a sample paper today. The questions are:

1. Describe the rise to prominence of the Twentieth Century personality you have studied. (10 marks)
2. 'Those who are inspired by an ideal rather than self-interest make the biggest impact on history.' To what extent does the study of your personality support this view? (15 marks)

I believe the idea is that the 10-mark question will always be a describe/recount, while the 15-mark will require some sort of analysis.

yeh...i duno....im hoping its going to be easier this year because the questions can't be so specific as previous papers! Our teacher kinda just swept over Trotsky.... but even though the question will be generalised i dont feel so confident!! You still need to know your personality pretty damn well after all! ...its annoying, you don't know how in depth you should be studying certain aspects!!!

HERE TROTSkyites, here is some info, there is nothing anywhere on this

I have been doing alot of work on this question, and the main points you need to show are what are his ideals and how they go way beyond his self interest

For example. In the early beginnings he wrote and editedmany newspapers such as the Iskra and the Prava, Why did he do this becuase of his ideals of a permanent revoloution. Did this go way beyond his self interest yes. He could have kept on studying mathematics which he was good at but put his ideals that he wished for above this, and didnt care about his self interests even though he might get in jaul for it

Lets look at the 1917 revoloution. What were his ideals, achieving the revoloution, overthrowing the Tsar, did he achieve this yes. Did he put this above his self interests of ultimate power of the party yes and did he risk his own self interest of security and comfort and riske his own death for the party yes, thus his ideals are put above eveyrthing else

You must in order to get the top marks do this for everything throughout his life. Now people arguing against this quote would say about the power sturggle, but use this to your advantage say that he was merely putting the ideals of the party at heart because he wanted a Permanent revoloution over the Socialism in one country of Stalin
Look at his writings after his exile

Hope this helps everyone
Thanks

yes indeed- generalised questions! I think its an awesome idea- makes it much easier to draw in any information you know and scab extra marks! Ultimately it shouldnt be too bad i mean the fact that they have to moderate the quote to apply to all personalities means they'll have to be pretty broad in what theyre looking for! the specimen paper looked good to me cos im doing speer! it seemed to be particularly relevant to him! haha!

anyway good luck... don't sweat it

Are you kidding?
the diverse range of topics to cover will be ridiculous. There is simply not enough time to write and valdiate any quality, in depth arguments, and at the same time include everything relevant to the question, which by the sounds of it is everything we have learnt. How are we supposed to know what to include and what to leave out?

Does anyone know how many questions there are to cover all the personalities?
Can anyone CONFIRM if this is actually true?

Yes there will be one two-part question covering all 27 personalities.
