Just hoping i can get some advice as to what options i have if i don't make it into the course i want - ie B Arts/ B Commerce. The UAI cut-off at UNSW is 95.20 and at USYD it's 94.20.

At the very best i feel i can perhaps scrape a 90-92, but even that is unlikely. I know there's the whole Bonus point scheme, but assuming i don't make it. Can i just start off with the BA and then later combine it with the B Comm? If it's possible - how hard is it to do? If it's not possible - what other options are there?

It's just i really want to keep my options open - i want to major in Psych in the BA and major in Marketing in the B comm. Oh and btw, is it possible to major in more than one area?

Meh, i'm confused - i hope this isn't a stupid question.
Any advice is appreciated - thanks in advance =)

Edit: Another thing i wanted to ask...whats the difference between a B Commerce and a B Economics?

UNSW wants your money. You'll get in if you get a 92. Dont worry about it.

Not much. B Comm is just like B Econ except it has a wider scope. In B Econ you have to major in an economic branch (economics, business economics, econometrics, etc) whereas in B Comm you have far more choices in your major (accounting, finance, economics, marketing, info systems, etc)

edit: that's not to say you can't do econ/fins or econ/acct in B Economics either

well if you really only want those two specialisations. you can just complete a science/arts program where you do psych in your science and you can do marketing and another specialisation...

and yes you can transfer to commerce/arts or commerce/science if you like. however to transfer, it does get quite competitive.

As hard as you getting good marks in your BA degree.

If it is not possible, then you probably shouldn't do a BA to begin with. Consider doing an even easier degree so you have a higher chance of getting good marks and then transfer to B Comm

ah fair enough. So there really is no easy way around it, it's either i get the marks or i dont - which i guess is reasonable. I might have to settle for a course at UTS or Maquarie Uni. B business is similar to a B commerce, yeah?

Justina, I'm having the EXACT same problem!

Sorry, just hijacking your thread for abit, hope you don't mind.

So is it very competitive to transfer from B Arts to B Arts/Commerce?
What sort of grades will I need?
Will they take UAIs into consideration? Because all my hope is gone if they do :|

lol s'ok your not hijaking =P
I dont think i'll be able to transfer into B arts/commerce. I think i may have to settle with a B Commerce – Marketing at Maquarie or a B arts/commerce at UWS - even though i really don't want to go there <.<

Edit: ok hold on - dont think UWS has B arts/commerce....
