hahaha i was watching a documentry about the difference between the sexes, and one of the experiments was to get 1 male, and 1 female (both pretty good looking). then they went around the uni saying "hi ive seen you around uni, would you like to sleep together tonight?". The girl got 6 'yes' responces out of 10, and the guy got 0.
Result - if you're female, the odds are in your favour.

I dunno how it works for girls, but it just doesn't seem right to me. It depends a lot on how well/long you've known the guy too.

It seems common sense that if you meet up at a bar it would be close to your home, so chances are high that he will see someone he knows. Not only will this take the attention away from you, but it will create awkward conversations:
"who's this, your girlfriend"
"no it's not like that"
"so you're just fucking?"
"no i don't know her that well"
"oh... what a slut" etc.

Apart from my other comment of the background noise, drinking holes seem a bit forward for me.

The standard location would be a cafe, etc. so that if he's crazy you can run away easy. Sure, it's a bit cliche, but so what?

In conclusion, anything I say should be taken with a grain of salt because I'm shit with girls and things might be different when the girl is innitating it, but I still think going to a drinking spot just so that you have access to liquid courage is a bad idea.
