I thought Somersault was terrible.

Try The Rage in Placid Lake. I only know one other person who is seen it and she hated it. I thought it was great.

All these movies stereotype us Australians to the outside world.

Where's all the movie producers at? I want to see movies about the Cronulla riot, Redfern riots, Gang rapes and etc. :)

Is that the documentary one? Where at one stage, there's some guy smoking the cane toad juices?
That was probably one of the funniest things I've ever watched.
That's the one.

The Castle (1997). Only saw a small portion in class, but it's hilarious.

Lol.
Hmm Aussie cinema is hard and tough...because nobody knows anything about Australians. We're just all about kangaroos and steve irwin and crocodiles to the outside world. So anything that contradicts that is hard to digest for others, however, that being said - I personally enjoyed Heath Ledger's performance in Candy and of course, the whole movie overall.

watched somersault on sbs last night. loved it
Ugh.
Did you not find it insanely unrealistic?

I didn't bother watching it, but I've seen it before. I thought it was awful. I don't know a single 15/16 year old as naiive and vulnerable as the protagonist. I thought it was a really poor character because there was nothing about her that I found familiar. That is, she just seemed too unreal to be believable. Also, I thought she was stupid. Which annoyed me.
And wtf was up with the scene where she was hosing the window of the service station?

Anyway, you didn't ask for a film review. I think I just needed to rant. Sorry.
