While it's an interesting move, unless Trillian adds a plugin or similar, I don't particularly want to open a third Instant Messenger on top of Trillian & mIRC, where pretty much the same people are going to be on it.

msn and yahoo have had several more years development.
If google move to buy AOL off time/warner they will have 41million users straight away on a messenger platform.

this is just a test of their technology.

Interesting how Microsoft released msn 7.5 on the same day as googel talk was released. Msn 7.5 wasnt set for final release for another few weeks, it came out of the blue, and still has many bugs.....

I hope microsoft dosent feel intimidated by google..

And well on Google talk, i myself will probally not use it. Google is probally a bit too late into the IM market. The 3 key players already dominate the market with millions of users between them. To establish their userbase (so there is alctually soebody to talk too) google must give a good reason for people to switch. And imo this dosent do that (true it is a beta.)

As we've already seen via ICQ, it's not establishing the base, but maintaining it that is the hard part

but, msn is bundled with windows and AOL is bundled with AOL. I don't remember how yahoo got it's users, I guess at the time it was a pretty good product.

Yeah, I see heaps of Americans using AIM but how many Australians use it?

Does anyone else worry that Google might turn into the MS of the internet? They're getting into everything and nearly everyone seems to love them.
