Sorrow- I came 2nd in 2 of mine, 1st in one, 3rd in one.. n well last n 2nd last in others. It's only the half yearlies. Marks don't matter. Don't stress bout it too much. Work hard to improve your marks though so you can maintain those ranks. As I said before it's only half yearlies so chances are, they won't be worth TOO much. Use these as motivation for the trials etc. This can tell you where you need to improve.

And well suicide.. um no. It's so not worth it. You think bout it.. this is only a VERY small proportion of your life. Why suicide now and not experience the rest of your life because of one small obstacle? I know the HSC is a big thing, but it's not the end of the world...

Just updating my marks

Chemistry 61/80 ranking: 3/12
Maths 2 unit 70% Rofl i thought i failed 4/20
Maths Extension: Still pending
English: Still pending, however i topped the grade for the reading task 12/15
Physics: 59/80 ranking 3/10
Legal Studies: One nights study before, i was sure to fail....67/96 ranked 2/8

Marks are pretty shit, but the rankings are okay.
I wish i did so much better, but things were balanced in the end. For example the subjects i studied for heaps i got less the expected marks, but for the subjects i studied least for, i got over expected marks. So my marks are fairly constant, and they aren't too bad, but i need to improve.

How do you think i went?

Well it depends what UAI your aiming for.

Assuming its 90+, i'd say you are on the right track with a couple of pretty good rankings and all high scaling subjects, although you'd wanna rank high in English (which by the looks of it you probably will).

hmm i need help for a second guys,

my rankings after 2/3 assessments are:

Adv Eng - 1st

Ext 1 Eng - 1st

Ext 2 Eng - 1st

Mod His - 1st

Drama - 1st

General Maths - 4th :(

most of my marks where high 80's - mid 90's

so is my UAI aim of 90+ possible even if some of my marks are crap and my ranking stays decent??

Sorry a stupid 08er intruding. I live close to Muirfield and I thought it was a fairly big school, I am curious as to why the numbers don't quite reflect it

They are some pretty good ranks. Keep it up :)

Everything was going reasonable until I got back Chemistry :(. I studied my bloody arse off for that exam, with my selective Chem buddy (haha I know I drove him insane with all my ceaseless questions....) and arghhhhhhhh I still do bad :(. Though, truth being told, my teacher knows jack about the NSW HSC Chem syllabus and is adament that if you don't have exactly what she has in her answers, you must be wrong. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

On to happier news. French Extension was lovely 23/25. Rank: 1st :D:D:D. French saves me yet again. Seems like it's the only damn thing I can do well! haha...:)
You'll pick up in Chemistry, and nice French marks :uhhuh:

Haha... yes, well, you'd think i would, but considering the fact my drama teacher told us a day beforehand that in section 1 the highest mark was 12/20 (and it wasn't me) and the average was 5/20... I was happy just to get over 50% :D

haha..
then you're up against my friend and I...
we're betting for first.
My school came first in SOR1 a couple of years back..
;)

regardless of my schools record, i'm hardly competition anymore.. i doubt making up biblical quotes in my SOR half yearly will get me veyr far...

he might be tough comp... he goes to view.. upholding catholic traditions and whatnot..
and he's a clever cat.. [notto mention a white boy doing mandarin roflmao.]

hahha.
goodluck :)

oooh a bit of competition... thats OK, im up for it. Besides, SOR isn't so much catholic, I don't think. Traditional catholic views don't always prove advantageous in SOR, I don't think so, anyway, I think you need to have more of an open view. But meh, I really don't think I will top the state anyway, I get the impression my SOR teacher is a really, REALLY easy marker lol, but we will see. I might get another SOR teacher to double mark my next task, just to see whether I'm really as good as my teacher makes out. But I'm definatley aiming for a band 6, either way. Your friend sounds smart. :)
