Having more than ten units (1 Viewer)

Does having more than ten units have any bearing on your final UAI? Do they take the fact that you did more subjects than you absolutely had to into account?

I'm doing thirteen at the moment, and I was wondering if dropping anything would make a difference in that regard.

When your UAI is calculated, they only take into account 10 units worth. Many people have 12 units because 1) 2 units don't count towards a UAI or 2) They would like to have a back-up subject in case they don't do well in a particular subject.

Pretty much no. They only really take into account your 10 best units.

yeah, only 10 units. but just as a throw-away statement, if you look at the stats for people who got 100 UAI, they were all people that did more than 10units (ie. 11 or more)

**im not sure how accurate my memeory is.. but yeah.. i dunno if its an actual requirement, but the fact that the people that do the best are doing more units than required makes me question the whole 10 units thing

It's not a requirement that you do more than 10 units to get 100 UAI. It just so occurs that the people that do get 100 UAI don't just do 10 units in their HSC.

Just because noone in '06 (or even previous years) received a UAI of 100 doing those subjects, doesn't mean it isn't possible.
