Health Science or Environmental science: need help deciding (1 Viewer)

I honestly have no idea what to choose. I've accepted my first round offer for B.Health Science @ usyd(with the intent of possibly going into radiation therapy or something) but also received an offer for B.Science(at usyd also).
For Science i was considering majoring in something like environmental science or maybe marine science; since i'm pretty interested on the earth as a whole, ecosystems and climate change and all that stuff - but it seems limited to research =/

However I really want to help people as well, but then that means +2 years of doing masters for further specialisation, and have a firm interest in health as well.
TLDR version: i have nfi what to choose

So if anyone doing any of these courses could help me decide with their experiences and knowledge of each to help me decide in time for friday i'd really appreciate it.

which would help you into the career you want? cause say you did want to become a radiation therapist, you should do health science with the masters. If you want to be a scientist, do B science. you dont want to regret your decision a few years from now.

and remember, you could always fill your interests in the electives you have (you get two a year in health science, i dunno about science).

I'm gonna do health science, so if you do end up choosing that, see you at uni!

Why not pick Science, see how you enjoy it after a year and then transfer over to health science if you don't enjoy it. Or vice versa. No harm done, you will have a broader knowledge than the average graduate and you will only lose a year anyway. It's better to lose a year and get it right than to do something you don't enjoy and have to start again.

i have a friend with a Masters in Environmental Science, on top of a B. Science, and she worked in retail for 2 years before she was able to find a job in environmental science.
So unless you're willing to move to Canberra when you finish, be aware that environment jobs are much harder to find than you'd think!.

I have a mate who did radiation therapy at USyd and was employed in western Sydney the year after she graduated. There are jobs out there, it may be super competitive though.

My sister's mate did an environmental science major, graduated in 2007 and to this day is still in retail except for some consult work here and there. That being said though, ecoindustry could experience more of a boom in the next few years given the current focus on climate change and resource usage.

You can always transfer into the other degree if you don't like the first one Just keep your marks up, higher marks always look better on transcripts.

That said i ended up accepting the offer and enrolled today(i kept on changing my mind back and fourth) and was fairly satisfied as some stuff kind of overlaps anyway.
I'm still enrolled in both courses so i have to drop one soon, so i guess i still have *some* time to think as i go through the handbooks.

Didn't realise jobs were so scarce =/ I thought there would've been more considering that under the hecs bands; science(along with mathematics and statistics) are under "national priority"
