hey this this Q is from the 07 hsc. can someone please help:rofl:

A pack of 52 playing cards consist of four suits with 13 cards in each suit.

(i) one card is drawn from the pack and kept on the table. a second card is drawn and placed beside it on the table. what is the prob. that the second card is from a different suit to the first.

ii the two cards are replaced and the pack is shuffled. four cards are chosen from the pack and placed side by side on the table. what is the prob. that these four cards are all from different suits.?

thanks

i), Probability of the card being from a different suit is 1-(the same suit)

When the card is taken, there are 12 left from that suit and 51 left in the deck,
P(card from different suit)=1-(12/51)=13/17

ii) 1x(39/51)x(26/50)x(13/49)=13182/124950

i) -first card could be anycard, since it does not need to satisfy any set
ie. 52/52 cards available

- since this one card is drawn out, were left with 51 cards, since the other card must be of a different suit to the already chosen suit .'. 39/51

P(diff suits) =52/52 x 39/51= 13/17

ii) Same idea, but applied twice more

P(diff suits) =52/52 x 39/51 x 26/50 x 13/49
