I think you'll find it was achieved by one Dr Anthony Henderson from SGS in 1993. He was another all-round genius who excelled in 4u maths, and the classics. He's now a postdoctoral fellow at Usyd School of Maths and Statistics.

Ever since the new HSC in 2001, the highest aggregate score was 485.6 in 2003.

Laurie didn't get the highest aggregate last year: he only got 497.4 whereas someone in 2001 got 498. :)

Fuck, i want to have his children. That's phenomenal. It makes me want to redo the HSC just to go in history, because by the end of it we all know how to exploit it.

Do you mean that by the end we know what we needed to do and so if we re-did it we could perfect it?

If so, not necessarily; i did two HSC subjects in 2003 and i'm still learning quite alot about the HSC now (scaling etc). But i think it would act as good experience. This time around i got good results in my trials, and other people who i expected to beat me by a few marks failed!

I think its because i know what its like as i sat the chem and IPT exams in 2003, but i don't even do those subjects now :S.
Hmm, im pretty sure if i re-did my hsc next year i could at least get into the 99.5+ region. Especially if i only took the subjects i fucked up on.

An aggregate is an addition of all the SCALED MARKS out of 500. That means that score comes after the scaling process has been completed. Aligned marks and raw marks are not usually put into an aggregate.

It is hardly possible for anyone to score above 490 as an aggregate at the moment. In order to achieve an aggregate of 490+, a student must top the state or come close to topping the state (i.e. top 5) in nearly all their 10 units provided that the subjects are not capped. I highly doubt anyone would ever achieve this.
See the statistics from 2001-2004 for yourself:

It says those are the lowest aggregates for the respective UAI. The lowest aggregate for 100 in 2004 was 483.0, 2003 it was 485.6, etc. meaning its possible people have gotten 490+.

It is possible, I know that. However I don't think it has been achieved yet, unless you're willing to prove me wrong. A scaled mark of at least 98 is required in a more than a couple subjects in order to achieve it.
