When I saw 1 Million HKD I thought "oh shit! bullcrap." but then I realised that a grad accountant there gets like 10,000 HKD a week which equates to about half a million a year, so it seems reasonable

Did you mean $10k HKD per month, as half a million HKD is around $84k AUD.

Re $1m HKD, I know it's more. It's also more here.

Edit: nvm missed your joke

haha i'm not bsing you mate. hk grads are not in good shape. you're thinking stuff like ibanks and magic circle. they get paid well and probably went to overseas unis.

but there's that dood who, for eg, went to cityu and got an entry accounting role at Cheung & Associates. he's probably on 10k per month. he probably works from 8 am to 8pm too.

in australia the guy who went to, for example, vic uni and ended up with an entry position at Johnson & Partners probably gets paid 35k per annum. bet he works from 9am to 4pm.

all the people i've spoken to who were vac ib'ers hated the job, it was stressful and hours sucked.

Why do you like to work in Hong Kong ? Are you from Hong Kong or any reasons ? I'm from HK, I can just tell you that if you have already prepared yourself to work in long hours every day, then this is the excellent place for you. You could earn money easily, shopping easily, many yummy foods around. You would never feel bored in this city.

The bosses or supervisors in Hong Kong do not like their staff to take day off.

Congrats. So this is a grad position at ML? Is there training in NY/London?

In general, is it easier to get an offer when applying for the grad program as compared to intern in IB?
