Just as the title states.
I got back my first english marks and i got a 60% (the assessment weighs 20%). If i wanted to get a high 80s - low/mid 90s, is that still achievable or should i start aiming for a 70-80 Atar? How high of a mark would i need in the rest of my assessments? im so confused and need a peice of mind right now.

Im going with the assumption that your doing English Advanced or Extension. If so, 60% is very salvageable as long as you do well in your other tasks (80+ to be safe). The big decider will be your trials. If you can get and 80+ (in the trials)*, a HSC mark of 90+ is quite possible. 75+ in your trials is also acceptable.

*Depending on what trial paper is used (e.g. Independent, CSSA), most people struggle and the line between the top n bottom of your cohort becomes clear.

I’m an English teacher I’m happy to give you a free second opinion with feedback in order to help you tr6 and work out ways to improv3 . You certainly don’t need to despair you can still get a high ATAR. Anyway please send a pm if you would like some advice and I will do whatever I can
