Young’s rule for calculating the medicine dosage for infants is

D=
YA
------- *
Y+12

Where Y is the age of the infant in years and A is the adult dosage. How old is Libby if her medicine dosage is 0.6mL and the adult dosage is 15mL?

*---- means over

Ans: 11cm

subbing in values,

0.6 = 15Y / Y + 12
0.6 (Y+12) = 15Y
0.6Y + 7.2 = 15Y
7.2 = 14.4Y
therefore Y = 1/2

Libby is 6months old.

how on earth can the answer be 11cm?! lol
