So well all have to go off on our own and get related texts for every module covered in class, and we actually don't have teachers hand us helpful study notes in class for these, so yes I'm sure we all have trouble with analysing related texts, so could anyone please give us some pointers in analysing texts, specifically speaking books. Much appreciated

1. Read the books more than once

2. The second time through, take notes as you go

3. Mark specific pages, and quotes. The post-it notes you can get in strip form as great for this.

4. Constantly ask yourself how it related back to the focus topic.

You only need related texts for the Area of Study and Module C. No relateds needed for Modules A and B.

I believe that's the second time you've recently gotten in after me with something like this. I should learn to read the OP better. :)

But pointers for analysing books:

1. Pretty obvious, read the book. Don't watch the film, don't read Sparknotes, don't use Wikipedia. Read the book.
2. Think to yourself what themes are in this book that relate to your core text? Familial relationships breaking down? The importance of cultural belonging? How time changes a person's sense of belonging.
3. Find techniques that support your thesis.
4. What is the EFFECT of these techniques on the audience?
