Not so sure if i can give you a proper answer. Just don't dress/act in a way that makes people think "yep, they're not from around here". Eventhough you try to avoid looking like one, they'll always be something that gives away that you're a fob.

I'm the opposite, only heard it being used for islanders in the past few years.

I swear I've only seen about 3 islanders at uni so far...
