IM just curious guys, so please use http://www.speedtest.net/ and note down your down,up,ping and which uni you attend(and perhaps the equipment you did the test on) :p.
Down ~122.52 Mbps
Up ~ 132.45 Mbps
Ping ~ 4 ms
Macquarie University and was done on a Macbook Pro.

UNSW is similar at about 120 MBps.

I once blinked and I had already downloaded a 100 MB CAD freeware lol.

UTS has the fastest in Sydney AFAIK - one of the primary AARNet nodes is close by I believe.

There is a screenshot in the internet speed thread of iRuler getting 800Mbps in building 2, I think that was at night though.

Wow 800 MBps. You could download 23 Terabytes in 8 hours...

i highly doubt youd have a hard drive to write that fast unless youre an SSD raiding nerd.
You'd be surprised how some people are ;)

Megabits not megabytes. That's what speedtest.net uses.
Wait that's 8 times less so that's around 90 MBps.

Actually now to think of it, I'm not sure whether our measurements above were in Megabits or Megabytes. I might check tomorrow at uni if I find the time to (given its mid-sem it should be a lot emptier than usual). I'll get the speedtest.net one done and screenshot it.
