Hi all,

As you and I have experienced first hand, this week was the start of our HSC journey.

  • How is everyone managing study and social wise?

  • How much homework are you receiving?

  • Were your subject choices what you expected?

  • Most importantly, are your teachers mean or nice? ;-)

Q1) Managing pretty good mainly due to set study timetable and free timetable.

Q2) Not as much as i expect, but more than yr 10.

Q3) So far yes

Q4) Overall, they are nice but i have really shit maths teacher. He practically can't teach as he use basic examples to explain difficult concepts and hence doesnt explain but just rush down the answers.

1) Well enough. Haven't really sorted stuff out yet :p
2) A TONNE. Maths teacher literally gave us 2 chapters to be completed by monday. So much for spending a month of basic arithmetic T_T
3) Chemistry was harder than expected, maths has more work than expected and yeah...
4) Most of them are nice :p

1. I'm coping quite well with getting all my work done on time. I think it's because I'm finally doing subjects that I have an interest in rather than subjects I'm forced to do. Minus English.

2. For Physics just a few research questions. Maths, usually 3-4 exercises. They're pretty short!

3. Yes, I'm happy with mine. I like how there are less people in the class now.

4. They seem happier to see us than they did when we were in junior years.

How are you coping SpiralFlex?

1. It's okay so far. The homework and study is just setting in now, get back to me soon and I'll be neck deep.
2. Not too much. Usually just a few questions for maths, an exercise for French, and a weekly homework assignment in art, plus other bits and pieces.
3. Yes. Except maths is far easier than I expected.
4. They're all good except my art teacher, who talks too much and treats us like we don't know how to answer questions properly.

1. It'll be fine, used to doing like 20+ hrs of extracurricular + having a social life, scaled back extracurricular for yr 11/12 a little. Except a bit of a pump at assessment time.
2. Only a tiny bit so far
3. I would be lying if my subject choices were like expected, but I like them all and got fine teachers, would have gotten bad teachers with what I was originally going to pick. I just feel bad for not doing a certain subject cause I detest the teacher.
4. They're all fine. Some are strict, but that's fine by me cause I'm there to learn and do well in HSC. None of the teachers seem mean, but I haven't met one yet but apparently they're fine.

Sounds like you have the perfect combination LoveHateSchool. I really do not want to do English. :)

if you find that prelim chemistry is quite difficult already, i think you should get a tutor or ask more questions in class so you understand the foundation of chemistry. once you get into the hsc course, you will find out how important the prelim course is. : D

Yes and yes, Preliminary physics is fun. I don't think I will enjoy Space in the HSC.
