samuel 90%+ is band 6, 80%+ band 5, 70%+band4 ect. ect.

don't seem so surprised dave... I go to a small country school, and this year is the biggest year 12 they've ever had (around 50 people in the entire year) its also the most competitive, because of those 50, 2 will get high 90s and 3 or 4 have the potential to get low 90s (UAI)

I can't imagine what it would be like to go to a school with 75 people in one class !

Band 6 - 90+

There are only 2 or 3 students out of 48 (Advanced English) who have a 90% (or higher) assessment mark.

Hopefully by the end of the HSC exams, a few more from our school (from Band 5, 80-90%) will be pushed up into Band 6s via raw exam marks and allignment. :)

/edit Ribbon beat me to it.

We have 48 Advanced English students, spread over 2 classes (12-1, 12-2).

So in English 1 (12-1), we have about 20-24 or so kids, I don't think that the school you're talking of has 75 kids in 1 class, maybe spread across 2 or 3 classes.

I figured that they wouldn't all be in the same classroom huy, but i would count it as one class because they are competing against each other doing the same course (and I would assume, the same modules) as opposed to the standard class, which only shares half of the course content.

D'oh! My mistake.

At my school, if you're not in 12-1 (the top English class), then you're not competing against anybody. I don't know, that's how it is... My class sees it as 1 class, so everybody knows each other and competes against "our" class, but if we look at the entire Advanced English cohort/group, then of course, we are competing as group, against the entire group (if that makes sense).

But also, everyone here, is competing against each other across the state, LOL. :)

Sorry, I thought you were trying to say that "I have never seen a class with 75 kids in it". My mistake :)
