I took 3 into my prelim for english, and 2 ran out, the third ran out in my next exam, so it's hardly being paranoid by taking 5+.

should use black pens, they definitely are more distinguishable from the lined hsc exam booklets.

your single table will contain

1. question booklet
2. answer booklets (could have 10 booklets for mathematics, etc.)
3. calculator(s)
4. attendance and declaration sheet (roughly same size as sign with candidate number)
5. sign with your candidate number (half the size of A4)
6. probably your watch

think twice about bringing too many pens or there will be a lot of noisy shuffling, wasting valuable time to sort out the mess.

I bring 5 pens into the exams... good ol' kilometrico blue (thinking about bringing black...)
AND Never forget 2 pencils / sharpener / ruler for maths and science... it says on the front of the exam booklet that all diagrams must be done in pencil.

I usually like to bring a big stack/box of like 10 pens though and leave them in my bag outside... before the exam I'm usually lending out pens - "Oops.. 3-hour exam, and I didn't bring a pen"... lol.

I'm just starting yr 12 this term, but my bro who did his hsc in '05 brought in 2 calculators and 2 pens

sigh... if only he realised you can do an entire 4 unit maths exam without a calculator at all lol

Oh good. So we don't need any pens according to that list.
