ppl might say 4 or 8..
but seriously at an average..OUR year 12 bodies need a GOOD 6.535 hours of sleep on weekdays and a bit more on the weekend .
hehe lol 6.535, interesting.... very interesting... I'm close enough, I should be alrite :haha:

One of my teachers told me you only need 4 hrs of sleep to function properly the next day...

But i average around 6hrs... 1am to 7am is my sleeping time
lol my tutor told me that as well, tried it once and couldnt keep my eyes open the next day at school, ended up sleeping on the bus home...

OMG, your life is so organised that I envy you so much.
Nah I didn't do 4-5; more like 2-3 during school on good days, and 4-5 on weekends etc

same here - but i reckon 7 hours should be your aim every night. that is a good number for me. if i get more than 8 hours i actually feel more tired at school the next day than gettin, say 6.5-7 hours. But it is best to try what works for you.

The body sleeps in 90 minute cycles, with the last 30 minutes being the most effecient and restorative. The first 30 minutes are the next most effecient (so if you're randomly tired at the library, take a 20-30 minute nap!). The 30 minutes in between is 'deep' sleep and can actually 'cause you to be more tired than you originally were if you wake up during this period.
It's best to wake up near the end of the last 30 minutes or 5 minutes after the last 30 minutes (which is a middle-stage, where you're not actually 'sleeping' but your body is just switched off, 'cause sleeping is when your body is restoring itself), as it allows you to make maximum use of your sleep.
tl;dr Don't wake up in the 30 minutes in between of a sleep cycle, sleep in 90 minute multiples (1.5 hours, 3 hours, 4.5 hours, 6 hours etc.) and a quick 20-30 minute nap is more effective than a 30-60 minute nap!

i go to bed at 11ish. listen to music/radio for an hour or so. fall asleep by 1220ish. wake up at 0730.

Actually for children (under 18/21, while the brain is still developing), you 'need' 9.

hmmz nice, very informative and helpful. Should take this on board and sleep for 4.5 hours now!!

nah just kidding.. hmm 6 hours sound good :)

That may work for you but it certainly doesn't for me. I usually get just over 4 hours sleep a night and i feel like shit every morning till about 10am.

I dont get whats with you guys. If I dont get exactly 9 hours ill die from exhaustion. If i exceed 9 hours ill feel strangely lethargic and unmotivated.

lately wid my half yearlies n stuff goin on

i get about 6 hrs sleep

but anything between 6-8 is lke ideal

Seriously, every hour of time spent sleeping is one less hour for doing other stuff. I usually sleep at around 1-1:30 and wake up at 6:30. Greatly enhances productivity. Its a pity sleep is so damn comfy though.

you sleep nearly the same hours as me, tell me, do you ever feel dizzy, nuaseus and disorientated in the morning?
