So how much do you think the UAI's will go up by now that the government has cut government spending to universities?
So Cyph, when you say "relatively big increase", is that like 5+ UAI increase?Originally posted by Cyph
Depends on demand,
demand increasing + places decreasing = relatively big increase.
Thats correct. Every year you have certain degrees that will increase in a really dramatic way however there is always some degrees that remain steady or as you have stated decrease. Thats why your preferences are so important. However the bottom line is work to your capabilities and see what type of UAI you attain then see the type of offers you recieve. Theres not much point stressing over how much the UAI requirements will increase. Thats something you cant help. You just have to do your best and see what happens.Originally posted by Ragerunner
What i'm wondering is if a lot of courses increase in UAI requirements, wouldn't that mean a decrease in some?
Your correct when you say they were lower however they increased in a pretty dramatic way compared to there former cutoff. I had a friend who wanted to do Nursing and she missed out as there was so much demand for that degree. She attained the previous UAI however with the increase was not offered a place.Originally posted by Cyph
Are you sure? The cut offs were pretty low compared to some other courses, around ~70 IIRC.
Man, that is bad news.Originally posted by Cyph
I couldn't tell you sorry, but it's more than possible for courses to jump up 5 points, particularly courses with cut offs in the 70s or 80s.
I want to do Business at Newcastle which had a UAI of 71.65 last year but I get four bonus UAI points for living close to the university.Originally posted by Cyph
What course do you want to do?
It would be pretty funny, 100 + access + aboriginal or torrus strait islander (sp?) = 115 uaiOriginally posted by Newbie
me + 5 point access = 100
I wish I had your confidence Cyph. Even though I do good subjects, my marks are not too good. I need to stop waisting my timeOriginally posted by Cyph
I live/go to Newcastle. Relax, looking at your subjects you should make it into business fairly comfortably if you do some work.
Which isn't the case. I keep finding myself back on this forum too often.Originally posted by Cyph
As long as they are above average, you will cruise in.
