How to study for my Ancient History essay? (1 Viewer)

I know all the stuff but I'm not sure how to study for the essay!
We've been told to study a lot about the written sources e.g Homer etc etc and the archaeologists e.g Heinrich Schliemann.
So I'm not sure how I should study for the essay.

Should I make up practice questions and try and write an essay??
MY EXAM IS TOMORROW!!!

totally just realised I forgot to mention that the essay has something to do with Troy and the Trojan War!!!

I personally like to make broad arguments that are easily adaptable to lots of questions. Make, say, 6 arguments, with the intention to use 2-4 of them (depending on the time allocation of the exam). I have a lot of friends (it's generally a female trend though I've noticed) who simply make practice essays and rote-learn them. It pays off when a familiar question comes up, but it also allows for complacency I find and many are so stubborn that they don't even read the question before they start writing furiously. If the question doesn't relate, as you'd presume, they get slaughtered.

I don't do ancient, but I'm guessing it's pretty widespread across all humanities/social sciences.

edit: oh and read the syllabus points for the module, if they're fair, that's all they're going to test you on.

Make notes on each section of the corresponding for points with sources
Eg hatshepsut: military
1. Campaigned to Palestine
source: 'her arrow was among the northerners'

Do some past paper questions or you can also try make some questions up yourself (that suit the syllabus and question range). Best of luck!

However, I found past papers were gold. All I did was past papers and also mastering every single point my syllabus and ended up getting 97 for History .
