ive got the success one book and this is the answer they give

"reasons for unceratinty depicted within the speculative family tree include the fact that the existing fossil record is very incomplete giving rise to diferent interpretations and the fact the fossils that have been found are scarce and originate from an extended length of time, again causing different opinions among anthropoligists"

in other words, not many fossils have been found and each scientist interpretes things thier way
