Its a little odd how the article is about how hard the paper is but 48% of the people in the poll said it was easy.

I suspect most who voted in the poll didn't even do the exam.

Our poll here (which would be more reliable) currently has these results:

Hard 71.21%
Average 21.21%
Easy 7.58%

He makes a fair point that it does not encourage students to do the harder high school maths courses. I'm not too sure I would call the paper cruel either although it was a difficult paper in terms of time (but the 3U paper has always been a speed exam against the clock).

to be fair to the BOS, i think people who were aiming for state ranks for mx1 from the start of the year would love that paper bcuz it tested everything in depth.

hurray, it made news!!

that's good, because surely now, people from high above should get the message.

I was never top gun at MX1, but I slowly and steadily improved over time, from 20% in my very first year 11 MX1 test to a decent enough 60% in trials.

I was personally satisfied with my personal improvement, and sincerely expected at least 50+ / 84 raw mark in the exam.

However, once I sat it, I skipped so many questions and realised that the improvement in results would not translate into the HSC exam.

I was quite thoroughly disappointed, I really hoped to have achieved 50+/84..

The layout of the exams this year was strange. Put the easier questions last. haha
