Would you date a person whose humour you don't get?

Poll, again.

A lot of girls say that when looking for her "special one", humour is a critical factor. Is it true for guys too? To what extent?

I'd say it's more important that "he" has to find me funny, but not necessarily the other way around. But if "sense of humour you don't get" implies the depth of 'seriousness' that equates this person getting anal (not analed) too easily, that would be a huge bummer (I love this word).

Contradict yourself.

it wouldnt be likely

like a girl i would date would have to at least have some sort of sense of humour

or at least laugh at my jokes

but then again.... if i met a girl who was totally awesome in most other aspects, i wouldnt hold it against it or let it prohibit a chance of a relationship

Can't. Be way too weird.

If I don't get his jokes, then I probably don't get him in many other ways.

everyone has to have some sense of humour.
an ability to take things light-heartedly would be most important to me. but also to have a laugh and to just...take things with good humour.

Oh btw, what I meant by "humour" in this thread isn't that the person takes things way too seriously and doesn't know how to relax and have fun.

It's just that your senses of humour are totally different, and you don't get his/her jokes most of the time.

I don't know. I'm frequnelty told around these parts that I'm not funny, but then my sense of humour isn't reliant upon "rofl oh noes!!!!!11!!oneleven!!".

A few people find me funny but with some people it passes right over their heads. I really don't care if she doesn't find me funny, but there's nothign stopping her from getting used to my sense of humour.

I accept little differences, as long as our sense of humour (and everything else) overlaps to some extent. Like, me and my boyfriend get each others' jokes most of the time, but I know sometimes he reckons I'm lame and I don't really see the funny side to him drawing penises all over my lab manual.

But to answer the question - no, why would anyone want to date someone who doesn't make them laugh?

Yeah most of us would know what you're on about latvia, there's no need to explain

Although your sense of humour is f*cking twisted if i could add.

Also those who don't 'get' humour would have the stock, all-inclusive replies such as

:'( I just didn't want nobody to vote the first option.

if it were twisted enough, why would someone like Bobness get it?

Oh wait.. maybe ur mind is a bunch of infinitely juggled rubberbands fighting each other for free upgrade to hairstrands? No.... it's because dere's a crazy set of artificial intelligence in u :) (not the movie, but the zoom-in of nanospecies hooks)

yeah. I'm not that random irl, for I have no one to tell my sex jokes to. Can't just blurt them out to free flowing decomposed strangers.

She's at Bookie's house. Apparantly conducting a "fire socket" study experiment.

Excuses excuses.

I wouldn't care, not that the question really matters irl much as most of us have basically the same tastes in humour imo.

Wait, who wouldn't want to have fun or hang out with someone that doesn't like having fun? :/ Maybe you just define fun from the bounds of what you find fun?

i don't know that many people outside my group of friends would get my humour coz so much of it is in-jokes that make no sense at all to innocent bystanders...but as long as they dont mind a little perverted/politically incorrect humour and can handle me laughing at stuff that isn't meant to be funny (i have to hold in giggles at funerals for some reason and i burst out laughing when dad told me my grandma had died...not coz i wasn't sad, but yeah i dunno :s :s)...then it's all good.

if i didn't get their humour, it's ok. i'm sure eventually i'd 'get it' after hanging out with them enough.

That's really strange. I sort of know how it feels, but in the sense that when something terrible happens to a friend, or anyone I'm with really, but I'm not affected by it, I sometimes wonder if I'm wearing the right sort of expression.
