Turns out you are allowed to assume the symmetry rules for integration.

I -a-->a f(x)dx where f(x) is odd = 0, where f(x) is even = 2I 0-->a f(x)dx.

You would split it up into integrating from -a to 0 and 0 to a, do a change of variable (u=-x) for the first one to change the limits of integration into (0 to a), then cancel out.

Isn't that method part of the syllabus anyway?

Why did you have to confirm it?

hey, ND, did u ask about if u can assume that definit integral of

f(x)=f(a-x)?
I asked that today, you're not allowed. I also asked about whether you're allowed to assume the nth roots of unity are 1, z, z^2 etc. and you are allowed to do that.
