I used to hate binomial theorem but magically did so much of it that I ended up loving it! Sadly, the 2012 HSC did no justice for binomial theorem..

I was hoping the last question would be some binomial proof

I initially found it quite difficult because I didn't understand what I was doing, but once you get it, you should be able to prove any identity that pops up
