Do your own dotpoints, read over them, then do past papers.

True. You can't expect the concepts and terms to plug into your brain automatically. Remember, practice makes perfect.

Uh yeah, I had trouble with physics at the beggining of the year as well, but put your head down and work at it for a bit, and you'll begin to understand the concepts. Then do the questions and homework nightly and you'll be fine.

Also, try to visualise or remember examples of things you learn in Physics.

Mmm, and for every formula or rule or whatever you learn, go and do it yourself (or on a smaller scale as appropriate...:D) so that it sticks in your mind, example, we are learning about light and waves, so I go fiddle around with mirrors and skipping ropes and that. I don't know, it just helps to make you understand more and make it stick in your mind if you actually go out and do it :) And of course all the other stuff everyone else suggested like dotpoints and studying and stuff.

I'm happy about physics, my physics teacher said nobody failed, so I PASSED PHYSICS! I'm really happy about that because I'm not very good at physics :)

LOL where is foram when u need him ?!?!?!
Here I am!

What I do to learn physics is:

1) Read throughly. :read: :read: (I prefer to use Macmillan Physics 1 and/or Jacaranda Physics 1. I don't like excel very much.)

2) Understand/ Commit to short-term memory. ... :D
(These two steps occur simutaneously for me. The more I understand, the more I remember in my short-term memory.)

3) Practice the calculation questions. :hammer: (I try some of the ones in my textbook first, then I do some in DotPoint Physics). :D

4) Re-read throughly multiple times. :read: :read: :read: Usually before I sleep and during free periods. (Commits it to long-term memory, ensuring you don't forget it all after the test.) :D

Some people also like to make notes on every syllabus dot point. I don't do that because I just look at the syllabus, and make sure I know everything on it. (I'm very lazy.) :D

EDIT: I forgot to add smileys. :D :D

Wow, you never cease to surprise foram. I was expecting something along the lines of: "Cram everything in within half an hour - if you can't do that, you shouldn't be doing Physics".

It took me about 4hrs to finnish a single prelim module, and I work faster than most people, so I wouldn't reasonably expect others to read, understand, remember and practice enough in an amount of time significantly less than 4hrs/module.

Textbooks are so important, the one we use at school is absolutely terrible and I don't understand it one bit, and also it is about 2 inches thick and I hate it :(

Yes! Textbooks are more important than the teacher :D, unless your teacher is like my math teacher. He explains things so well he's better than any textbook! :D

your school library should have different text books. im always refering to different ones.
not only that, ask different teachers to explain stuff to you. What a different teacher might say might just click for you.

Jacaranda and Macmillan are my favourite physics books. :D

Physics is terrible for me. Usually I get things, learning really isn't much trouble for me. But with Physics the info goes over my head, it doesn't even go in one ear. I need to find a way to learn all the concepts because my half yearly is soon and I really don't feel like failing.

Usually if I see a practical application I'll do it. It usually occurs when someone's driving me around [mum won't let me get my licence -_-']. Like, you can calculate instantaneous velocity of the car to help get your head around the concepts.

Now that we're doing the electricity topic, I find that skittles are amazing for demonstrating points. I usually have a bag of skittles I bring to Physics to demonstrate practically to my friend [though its mainly for my benefit] the difference between positive and negatively charged particles - the green ones are negative cause no one likes them XD
