Which windows? Without any further details or error messages its very hard to tell. A good standard procedure:

- Virus scan
- Spyware scan
- Scandisk

well it's not just msn.. which i can deal with. like the whole screen goes weird and then the computer connected on the network goes weird
and oh god as i'm typing this the screen just went weird and the msn messenger just signed me out saying i'm signed in somewhere. and then the old messenger version signed me in. and now another messenger alert popped up. gah. *explodes*

Toods, I had that problem with the MSN playing up.

Find the old version of MSN and just delete the files there :)

Do you mean "Windows Messenger", if so, it's possible you just have to edit your SYSOC.ini file and change the propeties so that Windows Messenger will be listed under the Add/Remove Windows components.

oh, i have removed the new msn numerous times already. under control panel yes yes. and then i installed the new msn again. then i tried to d/l the chinese version which the comp wasn't happy with. i'm currently on the UK version, which has been fine so far, but i'm not counting on it.

hang on rage.. so i should just delete my old msn4 version? i'm just scared if i do that then i won't have msn at all. and then i'll die and have no friends. ahah yes i'm an uber n3rd with no 1337 friends.

It's called Windows Messenger! and it was version 4.0, i woudn't advise getting rid of it, as MSN Messenger itself depends on Windows Messenger to use some of the features, e.g. Remote Assitance.

gah. okay i'm not whether i've fixed it. but my problem was with some win32 generic host problem things. you need to download a patch with microsoft (try to use the microsoft update often), and also make sure you have activated the firewall dealie (under connection properties). there were some patches specifically for this bug that you can download elsewhere but i haven't done that.
i'm not sure how much else i can do or cope with this. if i get anymore of these win32 problems i will throw this computer out the window. actually no i shouldn't, it's new and nice and shiny.
