My year 10 Geography teacher said you get like $150 000 a year in WA if you drive a truck and you get paid even more if you know a trade. But I don't think they pay that much now given the current economic climate.

Optometry is the second highest paying job, first year out of Uni (First being Dentistry)
You don't even have to do that well in Uni, just average it.

I reckon dentistry would just be so tedious. Seriously, after a couple of years you'd have seen it all. Plus its a shitty environment to work all day in a dentists room.

dentistry is like medicine without stress.

stress = bad stress, obviously.

but then stress also = interesting/fulfilling

wouldn't life as a dentist be more lonlier because you tend to have your own practice and like have a couple of assistants and thats it whereas doctors in a medical centre would have like heaps of other doctors around them?

But dentists assistants always seem to be very attractive young women? At least at my dentist...

med is overrated imo
not only do you have to go through years of study, you have to repay the debt after that and won't be making much until your mid 30's.

If money is your concern, there are better career pathways such as engineering, commerce, actuaries (salary rises exponentially)

Transfer is extremely difficult as you be competing with ppl who will be gaining HD's.
Your best bet is for post grad med.

And what makes you think you'll work hard? Why not go all out in the HSC instead? It's the best way to get in MBBS, if you're aiming for it.
Yes I agree, I don't understand why people don't put in the hard yards in Year 12 and then have a straight passage into their course at university rather than having to go around the long way with transfers and such.

Getting into med straight out from school is actually the toughest pathway. Getting a UAI of 99.95 won't guarantee you a position since you still gotta beat the UMAT and interview. And there is extremely limited places, making it extremely competitive.

so really tranfer and post grad entry is the way to go for some LOL
