Despite JP morgan shedding 4000 jobs in the states, Citigroup scrapping like 9000, and back on topic, a lot of investment banks lost a lot of money during the Subprime loan crisis.

to the OP they'll have them but many of the firms never took many to begin with so you can imagine how difficult it'll be to get in when the global market is down.

Interesting article, but nothing surprising really.

One of the directors for the company I work for used to work for a certain bank, and there was a leak that staff were to be laid off. It happened. He was retained though, and after the handling of it (herding them into the conference room and dismissing them en masse), he got smart and took a dozen of the banks support staff, as well as two other guys, and they started their own company.

Banks have great training and generally aren't scared of spending money to train staff, but over the long-term they are a nightmare to work for, especially middle management.

Does anyone know whether Macq only begins interviews for 08/09 internships after the deadline or will they start interviewing earlier (e.g. now?) as well?
