This.

Invention is a new idea, innovation is applying or changing the way the idea works.

Invention:
magnetic/solid state hard drives, etc.

Innovation:
1) Take said hard drive
2) Put software to play music on it
3) ???
4) Profit

All that said, I've had an ipod mini (got a creative zen now), and have to say it is probably one of the best as far as portable media players go. It's the user interface that really does it for me...everyone knows how to use an ipod nowadays.
The iPod wasn't the first hard drive player, and the first generation wasn't particularly successful.

On fire with the 2nd post?

Lol waste of space.
You're more arrogant than I initially thought, so I guess maybe one day when you grow up we can have an adult to adult conversation, not an adult to kid one like we're having now.

So post count now matters? Having more posts makes you the better person here? Somehow, I don't see the world working that way.

"Oh noes, Timmy's toy truck is more shiny than mine. I'm going to go and cry to mummy."

FFS. Grow up mate.

Rofl Emotional much? I think you need to get a sense of humor which you lack.

Seems like many objects are stuck in certain places.

Hate to be you.

4 posts well done.

Copyright of what?
Kane Kramer's original design, an actual invention.

Apply simply caught on the idea and did what something it does reasonably well; marketing.

No, not the greatest invention ever, let alone a great invention, and by no means, a good media player. It's only mass-marketed and pervaded throughout society, has a good brand, and has been societally-constructed as the norm, the thing to have.

I'll give you that, that it is stylish.

Customer service for the iPod range isn't too bad, either; but that's not a surprise with Apple being such a big player.
They are like wow yea?

Not an iPod fan to be honest...

And you can't really call it an invention :p
It's more like... combining two technologies.
