Though the war may have been necessary (even though, arguably, the region is far from being as stable as it was prior to the invasion), the way in which it was justified at first (and how such justifications are now for all intents and purposes ignored) is something that should never be forgotten.

Very true. The reasons for the invasion were all stuffed up, it moved from the phase of invading Iraq stop the "weapons of mass destruction", to "invading for oil" (which the US Govt. did not outline), and then "bringing down Saddam to bring peace to the Iraqis. There was this docu on a while ago called "truth, lies and intelligence" - it said that even though the intelligence about the weapons turned up negative, or was unknown, the US president still covered up his reasoning for the invasion because of Saddam's dictatorship and that he still possesses the weapons, and Tony Blair and John Howard used the exact same words Bush used in this address to parliament for the invasion.

But yes, i agree that the US should withdraw in the coming years....as long as the Iraqis "get back on their feet"

they will create anything and any reason just to stay in IRAQ for the years to come.
It's just a matter of time before Osama Bin Laden becomes involved again because Al-Zarqui is out of the picture again.. For the time being

That is despite the fact that the deployment is heavily impacting upon the Government's finances and that a protracted occupation will become a political liability for the Republicans (more so than now, anyway), I guess?

You can't delete a thread, it will eventually just go to the back.

Welcome to Iraq
