So I'm going to do Ext 1 and 2 maths, physics and chemistry. Now I really want to aim for 100 UAI, or at least 99+. My parents and some guys from my school say I need to do Ext1 English, which I am doing this year (year 11).

Now I dont really enjoy the subject at all, but people say that I need it to get good scaling. Is it true? Or should I drop it next year? Its not like im coming bottom fo my class, I just really dont enjoy it.

Nah you don't need English Extension 1 for a uai of >99. In my opinion, the level of effort you'd have to put into EX1 would be more than that for Advanced (such that you would get a similar scaled mark). But it only counts for half as much. I'd probably rather put that time into phys/chem (more mark per time reward, imo)

GL with the 100.

No.

Whoever said that is stupid. Your potential subject combination is good enough to get you 100 UAI as long as you get good marks in each.

On top of tthat, let me say this too: You can get 100 UAI with virtually any subject combination.

Lol namu, don't call his teachers/parents stupid.. just maybe misguided?

And to be honest, some combinations of subjects are much harder to get 100 in than others.
The easiest one is, imo, Eng Adv, cHem, phys, 4u maths.

you dont need ext 1 english. although if you do ext 1 english, and do well, its easier to get the higher UAI's because ext 1 english scales much better than advanced.

damn you high achievers going for the 100, but yes @ threadstarter you dont need ext 1 english to get over 99. Do the subjects you enjoy seriously, because the suubjects you don't enjoy, you would find it kinda troublesome.

lol yeah u dont need it, it probably wont even count since u'd want to do well in advanced english since it definitely will count (at least one unit) but ext. doesn't have to (assuming english is ur worst subject) if ur advanced is better

Scaling difference between Advanced and Extension 1 is minimal. Also, I know someone who got 100 UAI with Advanced English, so yeah...
