I keep convincing my friend that he will get a UAI of 99, but he doens't believe me. He is afraid of putting preference of over 96 because he doesn't believe he can get over 96 even though we all knew (the whole year 12) that he's going to be the dux of the school in 2003. Here what he got:

Mathematics Extension 1: 98% 1/30
Mathematics Extension 2: 96% 1/12
Chemistry: 95% 1/35
Physics: 93% 1/38
Economics: 94% 1/7
Advanced English: 87% 4/24

How can I convince him to pick the courses that he really wants, which requires 99+ UAI? The dux last year and the year before were 99.25 and 99.7 respectively.

Thanks

Tell him to come onto this forum and let him ask the questions :)

that way he will get a good direct answer :)

Those are very impressive marks.

tell him he better start studying if he wants 96 bcos those ranks and marks are pretty terrible. i mean, 98% in 3u maths, pathetic.

Well the thing is, he's busy playing games
He barely speaks to me online, usually one or two words. Only when we see each other we talk.

Your irony is not really helping in case you haven't notice...
The closing date for registing uni courses is the 30th sep. He hasn't even made up his mind.....

Tell him that there is 9 choices you can make.

So putting things over 96 still leaves plenty of room for other courses.

Although I think he might miss out on 100 due to his english :(
He has the potential to get 99.90 :)

if he really wanted to do it, there wouldnt be a need to convince him.

while your intentions may be good
you're sounding like a control freak

Yeah, you can change your preferences after you get your UAI, so if he picks courses below his UAI, and decides to go for something higher, then he can just go in and change his prefs. No worries.
