Weed isnt whats addictive its the tabacco in the cones etc that you become addicted to.

Weed is very different to say X, Coke, LSD etc.

Weed can ruin peoples lives the same was alcahol or ciggies can. Those saying how bad it is etc have never tried it, or have and were packing 10+ cones a day and of course it ruined their life then.

Those who havnt tried it, try it, you live once no point going through life being careful with everything you do.

"You only get one shot at this, so don't worry about risking it all" doesn't seem to make a huge amount of sense to me. I'd have thought that if you get one chance to get it right, there is in fact a really good reason to be as careful as you reasonably can be.

I did emphasise the 'within reason' bit, and I still think that as a catch cry for daring experiments with edgy and new substances, 'u only live once so why not eh!?' is lacking in logic.

My life being boring to you is something that concerns me a lot though, I'll definitely be taking that on board.

30% of adult australians have smoked weed in their lifetime. When you add in the number who self-medicate it would be surprising if greater than 50% of psych paitents hadn't smoked weed.

Seriously, even the most ardent legalisation advocates strongly emphasise that people with a family history of mental illness should stay away from weed.
But for the rest of us, the risks are very low.

if you have mental problems weed fucks you over even more, and if you don't have them but have a history in the family, it'll probably bring it out. dad's side of the family has a long history of mental illness, half of them are just about certifiably insane from where i'm standing (i exaggerate, of course, but if you ever meet one of them you will understand)...and they're the ones who smoke weed. seriously, my uncle was institutionalised because of it. so yeah, if someone you're related to is mentally ill, stay off the pot, you've been warned.

If you think that smoking weed is the thing that's going to make your life interesting, then I pity you for having such a simplistic (and poorly prioritised) view of life.

I haven't smoked weed and probably never will, as I have schizophrenia on my mother's side of the family (one case of which was triggered by a first case marijuana useage) and bipolarism and drug addiction on my father's, so I see no reason to risk it.

I don't think I'm missing out, and certainly know if I were to try it I wouldn't look back from my deathbed sixty years from now and see it as one of the highlights of my life.

grabey i should add that it wasn't a one off thing for those patients, but regular marijuana usage before (and even during) their hospitalization, disproportionately more than we would expect to find in the general population.

Not excessively, for the most, no. I'll have a couple, get tipsy at most, but I don't enjoy losing control of my actions. I enjoy sobreity.

yes, pot sets of some mental problems with some people who have a gentic trate which is rare...but those are the only people who complain

In all reality pot is the least harmful of illegal drugs AND the legal drugs (cigarettes, alcoholc etc)

Some people get harmed yet its the most used illigeal drug in the world.

Also only SOME nations like australia have banned it so if other countries have updated the drug laws to fit common science why can't we?

i know some very intelligent people that smoke alot and it doesnt seem to affect them one bit
but in contrast i know alot of very drug fucked pot heads
i guess u need to ask yourself where u think its detromental to ur mental state etc, what do u want out of life and if this includes drugs or not.
if u are attracted to them maybe u should have a close look at your motivations. why do you need them? what are you trying to escape from?
talk to a close friend that could help you realise this.. its an important step
