I read that the ones for math1131 and such aren't necessary but I'm not sure if this applies for all maths courses

Not really, in my opinion. I think it's best just to do as many past papers for it, and if you don't understand something in MATH1041, just go on youtube, ask your tutor for some help, or go to the library and borrow the textbook.

Completely agree, I didn't even open my textbook because the lecturers covered the essential concepts + topics well enough. I just made sure I did all the tut questions + past papers and made good use of the consultation times.

Yep, dont use the textbook. I only used it to summary theory notes but the questions they used...well i try to do them but they go way beyond what you need to do and basically 80% requires you to make stats online which is really unnecessary and time consuming.

i still got a HD without using the textbook, you wont need it.
