I'm not at school today. I didn't go. That might seem rebellious but it's not. I'm not at school because so far today I have already been infinitely more productive than when I do go to school.

I can go to school and be told by a teacher to read out a handout. I can go to school to make notes from a textbook. I can go to school to listen to "class discussion", which indisputably degrades into a bunch of stupid opinions that have no relevance to what we should be learning. I can go to school on no sleep and be tired off my arse, unable to comprehend anything - when I get home I am too tired to do anything. I can go to school and listen to a teacher totally misinterpret a poem then ask us to relate it to the elective statement - I have to go online that night to find out how to actually interpret the poem. Surprise! The internet's version actually relates to the elective statement!

I can stay at home. I can wake at 10. I can read the handouts (quicker than listening to someone read it out). I can make notes from a textbook. I can avoid class discussion and get straight to the answers by using the textbook or the internet. I can wake up refreshed and work hard till late into the night (if I'm pressed). I can find out the correct way to interpret the poem so that it actually links to what we're meant to be doing!

The one benefit of school is socialising, but when you only have about 1.5hrs of that - who cares?

I think u did the correct thing Ziff :D

Oh well..dw, u are not the only one, i did that the WHOLE YEAR during HSC...when ever i had Physics/Eng/Chem last i used to take half day...or even stay at home to study...as there was no point...i put in my work..Business i could always catch up with the work...n yeah i really studied in Maths lessons...so yeah i think it's better to stay at home...rather than going to skool when it is a waste of time...at least at my skool it was like that.

History is a subject that I enjoy and can learn from a textbook...

So whilst you're sitting in class reading over the textbook and being disrupted by Murray's one-liners trying to figure out what Kerensky was doing in America... I'll be at home going, "If only Kolontai was hotter... Maybe she was hot! That would explain how such an annoying aggitator didn't get purged... what a hottie!"

Then I will use that interpretation of history to gain 100% in Ext-Hist... The Ziff school of thought: that it's all about how hot you are :p

That 20% thing is bullshit, when the new HSC came in the rules were changed and its left completely to the school's discretion.

Ms. 12's right, it varies. I think my school has 15%...
I completely agree with you, ziff. I get absolutely nothing done at school. so, my attendance is irregular. :p best way to describe it...
I think the teachers are probably happier when i don't show up.

and getting exam tips. but as long as you are working at home, taking some time off will be fine. school has A LOT of wasted time, waiting for teachers, for class mates, for people to stop talking, i would say a couple of hrs a day is wasted.

im not at school... now... do i care... no.

some people want to go to school... they reckon its beneficial... but i know they just want to socialise. thats all i do at school when im there... talk. its when im at home that i actually learn stuff... school is a total waste of time, and there are others who pay money to go to sunday schools... wtf?!?! they are all idiots... spend the money on books to read at home if you really want to learn. :)
