we split the UAI so that 50% is the HSC exam, and then 50% is school work(assessments and such)

now, we get a rank for each subject from the school. if we use me as an example i came 24/66 for english.

this rank gets sent to BOS.

then we do the HSC exam. and i get say 88%, and i come 10/66 in my year. so thats 50% of my UAI. so 44/50

then for the next 50% we get our school rank, which for me was 24/66. and then say the person who came 24/66 in the hsc exam got 72%. which is 37/50.

then we add these together ?

so i get 81.

i hope i have explained it well.

It's actually a bit more complex than that:
- the moderating process (which takes into account your ranking) is not as simple as you've described it
- raw exam marks must be aligned, so it is likely that your exam mark would not in fact be 44/50 but most probably slightly higher than that.

It will give you more info on the moderating process.

your assessment mark goes through a hell of a lot more that what you've posted up.
