Hey,

I was having a conversation with a friend about plagiarism in the HSC. If you use techniques from a text found online, would this constitute serious plagiarism in the exam ?

It's just that so many people do it from like Bored of Studies, Shmoop etc

but wouldn't that mean a zero ?

thanks

when you take direct stuff from essays and what not then yeah it is; but if you use "emotive language" as a technique and someone else also did it then it is fine

No, because people could have found the technique by themselves...

Otherwise if your english teachers tells you a technique of a quote, then it would be 'plagarising' which wouldn't make any sense...

no techniques wouldn't count as plagiarism since you could have thought of them on your own. also they're techniques so chances are you'll have to use at least some of them in an essay. it could be considered plagiarism if you used the all/most of the techniques from the other text
