I've been thinking about applying for the University of Newcastle to study. From what I've seen it appears that they have a pretty good Bachelor of Arts program. I live in Sydney though so I'd probably have to move up there and I want to know if anyone can give me some feedback/recommendations about the city and Uni? Does it have a good sense of community? Is it a nice place to live?
Cheers!

I've moved from Newcastle to Sydney in the last 5 years.

I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever move back to Newcastle, it is a fuckin shithole compared to Sydney.

But that is just my own opinion, I'm sure some other people will tell you otherwise

I can't speak for the university, but Newcastle is just incredibly boring compared to Sydney. As a university student, I'd imagine this is pretty important towards having a pleasant university experience.

It's not that bad, If you're into the night life then you will probably enjoy Wednesday nights. Compared to Sydney it's better at least you can DRIVE EVERYWHERE and don't have to be shoved in a train like a tin of sardines. The main CBD in Newcastle is pretty dead except for the clubs, the beaches are nice, accommodation is fairly cheap. If you drive you will have a hard time getting a park on campus but most people seem to manage.

Also note, if you are just starting and don't know anyone you will find it hard to meet people as Newcastle is a place where people already have their group of friends from school or just around the area so it can be hard to get in with a group of people.

The buildings aren't that nice... seems really dead on the weekends.
