1. 1. Hamas unilaterally suspended the Egyptian-brokered truce with Israel, launching hundreds of rockets at civilian targets in southern Israel over the past week. Israel has exercised maximum restraint, but – after eight years of missile barrages from Gaza – must come to the defense of the 250,000 Israelis living within range of Hamas attack. Any other sovereign nation would do the same.
Israel broke the truce by launching an invasion (operation) into Gaza sometime last year, I believe it was, due to a supposed threat.

2.2. Under cover of the truce, Hamas engaged in a major campaign to upgrade its terrorist capabilities, manufacturing and smuggling massive quantities of weapons into Gaza – including rockets, explosive charges and machine guns – and constructing a network of underground tunnels for combat purposes. Israel cannot acquiesce to the presence of a Hizballah-like organization on its southern border.
Jim.1. Under cover of the truce, IDF engaged in a major campaign to upgrade its terrorist capabilities, manufacturing and smuggling massive quantities of weapons into Israel – including rockets, explosive charges and machine guns – and constructing a network of underground tunnels for combat purposes. Gaza cannot acquiesce to the presence of a Nazi Germany-like organization on its entire border.

3.3.The objective of the IDF operation is to cripple the terrorist infrastructure in Gaza, impairing the ability of Hamas and its allies to launch attacks on the citizens of Israel; IDF action would have been unnecessary had Hamas abandoned the path of terror. Israel is engaged in self-defense, and will respond assertively to any provocation by other parties in the region.
The killing of 500+ in response to the killing of 0 is unnecessary anyway. So says the entire world except the US, anyway.

4.4. Hamas belongs to the "A" League of extremism, alongside Iran, Syria, Al Qaida and Hizballah. Many countries have designated Hamas a terrorist organization and will not engage in any contact with its representatives. Israel expects the international community to lend its support to the war on Hamas terror.
Jim .4 Israel belongs to the "A" League of extremism, alongside Iran, Syria, Al Qaida and Nazi Germany. Many countries have designated Israel a batshit insane Gaza expects the international community to lend its support to the war on Israeli terror.

5. 5. Israel has done everything possible to avert any humanitarian crisis in Gaza, allowing for the regular entry of supplies and international aid. In fact, just last week, it was Hamas that acted to prevent the delivery of humanitarian assistance from Egypt.
By closing the borders and purposefully blocking food, aid, water and power? This went on for nearly a year.

6. 6. While the IDF takes pains to direct its activities exclusively against terrorists, Hamas callously places Palestinian civilians in harm's way – positioning its forces inside schools and houses of worship, and launching attacks from crowded areas. The unintentional injury of any civilians in Gaza is the sole responsibility of Hamas.
If Israel acknowledges this, then the responsibility lies in Israel's hands for knowingly launching an attack on a civilian area.

7.7. Hamas objections notwithstanding, the Government of Israel will continue its pursuit of peace with the Palestinian people, led by President Abbas and Prime Minister Fayyad. Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip in 2005 precisely to further this goal, but Hamas seized control of Gaza, turning the area into a launch pad for terrorism against Israel.
Hamas seized control in a democratic election the US and Israel both endorsed.

1."Cast Lead" has dealt Hamas a severe blow: hundreds of terrorists killed, dozens of headquarters and ammunitions dumps destroyed, tunnels collapsed, capability to manufacture weapons impaired. Hamas leaders have abandoned the civilian population of Gaza, leaving them to fend for themselves.
Hundreds of terrorists = a handful of Hamas kingpins + mostly civilians and/or Gaza police that were members of Hamas in the loosest sense possible.

2.Hamas still maintains the capacity and will to engage in terrorism. With Iranian assistance, Hamas has extended the reach of its missile strikes to threaten close to one million Israelis. And by using mosques, other public institutions and even private homes as arsenals and bases of operation, Hamas has effectively taken the Palestinians of Gaza hostage – cowardly using them as human shields. (Notwithstanding, an estimated 88% of those killed during "Cast Lead" have been bona fide combatants.)
Israel doesn't negotiate with human shields mang. They either get out of the way, somehow, or Israel blows the shit out of them.

3.Israel must persist in order to achieve its stated objectives: to significantly disable the terrorist infrastructure of Hamas and produce lasting change in the security predicament affecting residents of southern Israel. No sovereign nation would tolerate the daily targeting of its people. For this reason, the Government has authorized the expansion of "Cast Lead" – including the entry of armored and infantry forces, and the call-up of reserves, for the possible intensification of the campaign.
A minute change in the security situation for Israelis leaves a few thousands Gazans dead. Yes that's fair. And that's what this thread is all about.

4.While Israel has no intention of governing Gaza, Operation "Cast Lead" must continue for the time being as the IDF acts to gain control over areas from which rockets are being launched on Israeli towns. At the same time, Israel remains in dialogue with the international community in order to achieve its goals.
World: Stop it Israel!

Israel: Oye Vaye! Never!

AIR STRIKE

Israel: Whoops we were aiming for the one Hamas kingpin in an underground bunker. Yeah. You should have gotten out of the way, ok? We rang some houses apparently. It's Hamas's fault for using this aboveground playground as a human shield. Mazel tov.

It's funny cuz like, the pro-Israel side of this whole debate doesn't even try anymore. You came into the thread thinking you could justify this war, but you can't. Admit defeat and failure, Jew, and I'll spare a jihad upon you! :ninja:

hahaha, i feel like i have become less intelligent just from reading your responces, 100% complete bullshit.

stockpiling rockets is a form of breaking the truce, as was the qassam rockets that landed in the negev.

the civilian casualties could have been drastically reduced if hamas didnt spend all the millions of dollars given to it on weapons and instead invested bomb shelters.

Israel has let in much more aid than Egypt in the last 8 years and i would to see you rebut that.

the gazans know that if they ever attack Egypt, then your would be obliterated because egypt wont have the self control that Israel has.

Isreal shouldnt have to supply aid and electricity and gas to gaza since it pulled out in 2005. if these guys want to call themselves a state then they have to learn look after themselves

WASHINGTON (AFP) – The Bush family's 18-year-old cat, India, has died at the White House, First Lady Laura Bush's office announced Monday.

"The president, Mrs. Bush, Barbara, and Jenna are deeply saddened by the passing of their cat India ("Willie")," press secretary Sally McDonough said in a statement.

"India was a beloved member of the Bush family for almost two decades. She will be greatly missed," she said.

The black American Shorthair, which lived with President George W. Bush and his wife at the White House, died Sunday.

India was named by Barbara Bush after a former Texas Ranger baseball player, Ruben Sierra, who was called "El Indio," but the cat was called "Willie" or "Kitty" by the family.

Well done Israel. I'm glad you finally grew the balls to eradicate Hamas.

Maybe after this Gaza can actually start to become less shit and more towards peace, like the West Bank.

Hamas are ordinary humans with self respect not to give in to oppression.

Yes they are weak, yes they would keep more Palestinians alive if they become subservient.

But would anyone here do that? If someone oppresses your family would you just bow your head and accept it or would you fight back?

And Hamas is getting no one in trouble. The Palestianians and Hamas are the same people, Hamas came into existence from the Palestianian rage, they are recruits from Palestinian families. There is no question of them being irresponsible and putting the wider community in danger.

I just looked at the last few pages, and no posts from Sam. ):

Anyways, Saraya al-Quds said that if Israel doesn't leave Gaza, they and a few others will give Israel a few 'suprises'. They have also been helping Hamas and have fired quite a few rockets at the Israeli army :)

Iran urges Arabs to act on Gaza

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran, has told the Arab League it should take action "quickly" to end the Israeli attacks on Gaza.

Speaking on Wednesday as Arab ministers met in Cairo, Ahmadinejad warned that setting up committees and making speeches would not be an adequate response to the offensive that has killed nearly 400 Palestinians.

"If the Arab League does not want to do anything today, when does it want to act?" he told a rally in Zahedan in southeast Iran, the Reuters news agency reported.

Ahmadinejad did not suggest what action Arab leaders should take.

"Aren't these oppressed Palestinians Arabs? So, when should the capacity of the Arab League be used? The Arab League should act quickly," he said.

The Iranian leader also criticised the United Nations' response to the assault on Gaza.

"To which nations does this UN belong? This security council is for the security of which part of the world?" he said.

I'd like to know what kind of 'actions' he's thinking of. Even though i'm guessing nobody will do anything. They'll all wait till it's all over then be all 'here, we donated money for you  ' >:[

UN: Humanitarian crisis worsening
John Holmes, the UN humanitarian chief, told reporters on Monday that officials believed as many as 25 per cent of the 548 people killed in the fighting were civilians and that Gaza's health system, overwhelmed by the more than 2,500 injured, was "increasingly precarious".

"This is, in our view, a humanitarian crisis," Holmes said. "It's very hard for me to see any other way you could describe it, given the conditions in which the population are living."

Holmes added that "cluster munitions are being used", and that it was "a fair presumption" that most of the civilians killed were women and children.

He also said there were fears that the humanitarian situation would further deteriorate as the strip, home to 1.5 million people, was suffering from acute shortages of fuel, food and medical supplies.

Israeli leaders have maintained that there is no humanitarian crisis for the Palestinians living in the densely populated territory, and that they have been keeping border crossings open and are delivering vital supplies.

Israel is so full of shit. They just keep making up crap as the war goes on. Anything and everything is acceptable for the Israelis, but if a Palestinian does something it's terrorism.

Hamas said its fighters unleashed missiles on seven tanks in Shejaiya and killed 10 Israeli soldiers. Arabic news channels Al-Arabiya and Al-Jazeera said three or four Israeli soldiers were killed and about 30 wounded.

The Israeli military confirmed there had been heavy fighting but made no comment on casualties.
At least 13 children were among 60 bodies taken to Gaza hospitals overnight after air and tank assaults across the territory, medics said.

Almost 100 children are among the dead since Israel began a wave of air raids on December 27, Gaza's emergency services said. More than 2,700 people have been wounded. The International Red Cross said people were dying because ambulances could not get to them.

Israeli warplanes carried out more than 40 air strikes yesterday. The military said they hit a mosque "where arms were being stored'' as well as houses and tunnels that they said were used as arms caches.

Naval ships off the coast also bombarded targets to help the ground offensive launched on Saturday night, and artillery hit the Bureij refugee camp where three people were killed.

A couple and their five children were killed by one navy shell, medics said. Three children were killed by a tank shell in the Gaza City suburbs and two were killed in Shati by a naval strike, they said.

Hamas, which has ruled Gaza since seizing power in the densely populated Mediterranean coastal strip in June 2007, remained defiant.

"Victory is coming,'' the movement's senior leader in Gaza, Mahmud Zahar, said in a television address.

"They (Israel) have legitimised the murder of their own children by killing the children of Palestine,'' he said. “They have legitimised the destruction of their synagogues and their schools by hitting our mosques and our schools.''
Heavy fighting as Israel opposes truce | The Australian

I'm not sure if i'm the first to say this, but i agree with Hamas. When you fire rockets at mosques and schools trying to support whatever killing mission you're on, then everything you receive in return is well deserved/expected.

Israel is just bombing everything that has even a little bit of value in Gaza, then claiming the place had bombs in it or was used for terrorist activity.

Arabs countries are spineless puppets of their former colonial masters. Iran shouldn't do anything for the Arabs. Arabs are screwing over the Persians left right and center. hope Israel bombs the whole fucking Arabian peninsula. Might cause an uprising and bring about a fucking revolution that might have a back bone.

stockpiling rockets is a form of breaking the truce? that means Israel has broken the truce many many times before by stock piling tanks, planes, rockets and ships off the Palestinian shore!
why is a resistance movement deprived the right to protect itself?
