not too sure how i feel about Gillard, though. we'll wait and see, i suppose.

You don't even pretend to be about the issues anymore.
lol, its Australian politics. Sans the mining tax, Gillard is practically indistinguishable from Rudd, and Labour are barely distinguishable from Liberal.

Both parties talk about how much to raise taxes; I don't think there should be taxes at all.
The different parties don't ultimately affect issues, not on the level that (I think) really matters, hence I don't rarely care that liberals are likely to win.

Like I said, Rudd is a wanker, and I take joy in witnessing his sadness.

Interesting Newsletter from Liberal:

Dear .....,

Whenever there is a change of Prime Minister, it is an historic time for all Australians.

There are many things Julia Gillard and we as Liberals may agree on: reward for hard work, support for families, encouragement for small business and aiming to secure our future.

But what really matters to Australians are the clear differences that exist between Labor and the Liberals on how these goals are achieved, and who is actually able to achieve them.

It’s not about what Ms Gillard says now - it’s about the way Labor operates and who can deliver.

Today’s decision brings no real end to the uncertainty created by Labor’s failed policy and complete mismanagement.

Ms Gillard has been at the heart of every poor decision made by this Government.

She is part and parcel of the uncertainty created by Labor’s massive debt and Labor’s reckless spending and waste. She is part and parcel of Labor’s soft approach to border security. She is part and parcel of Labor’s failure to take on dysfunctional State Labor Governments when it comes to service delivery.

Above all, as part of this Government, Ms Gillard has adopted a faction-influenced, poll-driven approach to running our country - envy taxes, policy flip-flops, and broken promises – the product of a Government pre-occupied by day to day political fixes.

With Labor, you never know what’s next. Today, Australians got a new Prime Minister. What broken promises, what political distraction and what failed policies are around the corner we can’t say. But we do know it will depend on the next Newspoll.

By contrast, with the Liberals what you see is what you get.

This is what this contest is really all about.

yeah! Corporate bootlicker!

How dare anyone suggest that businesses should get to keep their profits!
I know, crazy right! What's next? Businesses will start having to treat their workers like human beings and not mindless profit producing automatons!? Outrageous! Workers aren't people, they're just a way for the rich to get richer!

I had the first two periods off because I was watching the Today show in the library, and I was the messenger telling everyone about the news. To be honest, I'm the worst Labor supporter in the world, because I didn't even know this was happening today! I was too busy worrying about the Socceroos match agaisnt Serbia! =P

Needless to say, the fact that we have a female PM is fantastic. It's a push forward in a country that stands for equality amongst men and women in the workplace. However, I do have some issues with Ms Gillard as the PM.

Firstly, she backstabbed KRudd by challenging his leadership. She is quoted as saying "I felt I had to challenge the leadership because it was my duty as the deputy for the last three years." Well done, Julia! Feed of the hand that gives you the food, and you hack it off. Slowly, and painfully. She could have at least left the challenge till after the election.

Secondly, her position as the Education Minister has left Government schools across the country looking more like Flanders Fields rather than actual professional learning areas. I don't know about you, but I'm looking at the progress on the library extensions at my school, and it looks pretty ordinary. The so called "education revolution" is more like an education downfall, and quite frankly a waste of money. What I'm trying to say basically is that why should this woman be PM, if she can't even do her original job well enough?

I'm not trying to say that KRudd was the best PM in the world. I'm definitely not saying that Abbott's got this in the bag (because I sincerly hope that he doesn't). What I'm trying to say is is that what ever happened to the true Aussie mateship that has existed and prevailed for so long? What ever happened to sticking up for your mates when they were down and out, and needed a helping hand? KRudd needed a helping hand for this election, and Ms Gillard has just kicked him while he's down.

Everyone remember 24/6/2010. The day Australia's parliament lost its dignity.
ugh it's frightening that you will probably be voting in the next election

I don't like this, no Prime Minister should have had what Kevin Rudd had happen to him.

Greens would get my vote if I could.
