I apologise if this is in the wrong section.
I was just curious, what's stopping you from doing another text in the HSC Exams, regardless if it is Advanced or ESL. For instance, if my Module A Internal Assessment was done on Pride and Prejudice + Letters to Alice on First Reading Jane Austen, what is stopping me from doing Bladerunner and Frankenstein in the actual exam? Although, you do write your school area number, considering they go through a myriad of exams like perhaps at the arvo to midnight, would it really matter, so long as you have sufficient evidence to apply accordingly to the question?
I've ask multiple teachers about this in my school's English Department, it seems that most graduates who go off and take such an approach end up with a Band 6. Essentially, they believe that it is okay and there are no repercussions. Can anybody genuinely verify this or provide a link to what the Board of Studies might have noted? The Head Teacher was dubious at first about it and then convinced me he was sure - and the others were unsure as well. Can anybody please verify this or provide an actual source for evidence, so I can tell the teachers the contrary.
However, my teacher (who is the Head Teacher) did clearly state that a combination must be made - more specifically that of one Film/Drama, Shakespearean Drama, Prose etc. Similarly, he also noted to me that if you randomly change a text, your selection and combination is screwed because the school must make a combination, and they send that off to the Board of Studies for approval. Therefore, he said it is okay if you wish to make your own combination, so long as he as the Head Teacher approves of it along with the Principal.
I'm only asking this because I'm accelerating in Advanced English and essentially, I'm done, I'm just fixing certain things, perfecting etc etc.
Can anybody provide more insight into this.
Thanks, Cheers
