Hey guys,
So my Trials exams are coming up in Week 3 and I’m starting to feel a little demoralized by my previous marks.
See attached image for my results so far.

Note: The HSC column contains my "minimum targets" for the HSC exams, except Chemistry - I actually scored 76 in that last year.

I dropped Chemistry after semester 1 as I was doing poorly, and opted to stick with my HSC mark of 76 from last year (accelerated) as I want to ensure that my two units of Maths don't end up counting..! I have twelve units (including my completed Chemistry course).

My school is ranked around 130.

I am aiming for an ATAR of 95, but that seems quite unrealistic now.
I will be happy with an ATAR of 89+, but the ATAR I absolutely need to get above is 85.

The course I want to do is B Engineering ICT Eng (Software), Dip Eng Practice (@UTS ATAR 85).

That course aspiration may seem funny because I suck at Maths, but the reason I'm failing horribly was an incident in my private life the morning of the first task, which had a domino effect on my work in that subject. That, combined with the school captaincy and a few other factors, meant that I did not enough time to redeem my marks.

Is my new target ATAR (89) still a possibility for me? What would be the highest ATAR I could potentially get assuming I scored at least my targets in the HSC column?

Thank you for your time!

Edit: If you can't see the attachment, my ranks are below (predicted/approximate based on last three tasks) -
English Advanced: 12 – 18 (of 72)
English Extension 1: 3 – 5 (of 11)
English Extension 2: 1 – 3 (of 8)
Chemistry: N/A (dropped, keeping HSC mark of 76 from prior year acceleration).
Economics: 6 - 11 (of 18)
Studies of Religion 2: 12 – 20 (of 71)
Mathematics: 31 – 33 (of 33)

I have faith in my cohort (i.e. I think my Economics, SoR2 and English classes will do reasonably well as a whole).

Perhaps you should enter your marks into an ATAR calculator and see, but honestly, I would sincerely advise you besides trying your very best for your trials, consider getting a private maths tutor ASAP to assist you to target specifically on areas you are weak upon-it will do wonders(provided you get a good tutor) to assist you to pull your marks up-also maths very important for any engineering course you wish to get into... best wishes for you to achieve your ATAR goal:)

Thank you for your reply. Yeah, I should definitely get a tutor for maths, but it's come to the point where I feel like I should just focus on my other units as to make Maths not count towards my HSC. It seems more beneficial just to abandon that ship altogether. Aside from that, do you think the ATAR is still attainable? Cheers.

I have a feeling your chemistry mark may not be enough to compensate for your performance in maths? I think if you do really well (i.e. B6s) in all your other subjects, it can counteract your chem mark, which looks like it could drag your ATAR down.

I think 89 is possible if your other marks go up significantly to again, counteract your chem mark.

Thank you all, for your time in reading and replying.

The words "You can do it!" are very reassuring at this point, and keep me motivated to recover/smash the externals.

Looks like I've got no choice but to hit B6's for my remaining subjects.

@hecticated - Yeah, I don't want to abandon it, but there is no way I can salvage those marks ... :/ It seems best to invest the time into my other 8 units.
