What did the crab do?
As part of a larger project I was planning on doing a "true" cooperative bulk purchase for one of my subjects... all fell through due to lack of interest (or, at least, lack of coordination of 170 studnets to express their interest), and timing (would take 6 weeks to get the books in from the UK, we need them in week 3, and they're already available in coop).
Gave some good insight to go through the motions, though. Esp how much turnover in books there are: for 170 students, paying $130 for their books, that's $20,000+, of which I guess ~20-30% is gross profit (total guess based on discounts given by wholesalers and the like). I know it's simple maths, but I (and probably others) have never actually thought about it..
